Descriptif
:
The 10-member band Groove Grocery doesn’t need to be introduced as a live-band after having playing more than 300 gigs over the last few last years. The biggest gigs were Marktrock Leuven, Fonnefeesten Lokeren, AB Brussels and Vooruit Ghent, where they created a great atmosphere on stage. Influences of triphop, electro, jazz and worldmusic are never far away. Their music is influenced by Spearhead, Moloko, Zita Swoon and Massive Attack, add live the enthusiasm and intensity of Mano Negra and you’ve got Groove Grocery.
Despite their numerous concerts, the band found time to carry on writing new songs. These songs formed the basis for their first CD in 2004. Before that, the single “Another Line” was released at the end of 2003. The song was given a lot of airtime by different radio-stations and was in the chart of “Carte Blanche” (Radio 1) for 6 weeks. The second single entitled “Get Away” didn’t do at all badly either.
Groove Grocery has developed into a pop-band with influences from triphop, soul, electro combined into a mixture, at times sultry and incited, then intimate and melancholic.
