	Descriptif : Paperweight est composé d'ex-membres d'Alisse et de Legoparty. La musique de Paperweight peut-être décrite comme "post-pop". (entre pop et post rock) Chronique du "ALL STAR ep" parue sur www.derives.net Belgian band of the year ? Paperweight is a trio from the region of Nivelles, Belgium, but which doesn’t sound Belgian at all. In fact it sounds much more like an American, Scandinavian or Canadian band, and it’s easy to make a list of comparisons, from The Few to Brandtson, from Nada Surf to the Posies, from Eric’s Trip to Weezer, from Sounds Like Violence to Dinosaur Jr, from the Lemonheads to Mew. All these names come to mind with very positive feelings while listening to the Paperweight power pop songs. But none of them is sufficient to resume Paperweight, because this band succeeded in developing a personal and very effective indie power pop approach, with sensitive moments, energetic ones and a deep sense of dynamism and melody. It’s really several steps higher than all the previous and others projects of the three members so far, in terms of texture, subtlety and achievement. It doesn’t sound at all like a debut ep much more like an opened out, full and completely maitrized record: the guitars and distortions are truly beautiful, the rhythms propel the song to the right place and speed, and the voice has got an intimate and seductive feel. Four perfect songs for their style and it’s completely impossible for me to tell if I prefer one or another because all I want is to listen to the whole ep again and again, at home of even better, while driving. They will probably widen their sound for their first full-length, but here nothing should be changed. Belgian indie discovery of the year for me. Belgian record of the year.
